The Kensington Market Farmers' Market
Kensington Market earned its beloved name in the early 1900s, when waves of immigrant families settled in the neighbourhood and filled its streets with hand-pulled carts selling fresh produce and homemade goods. Many of those carts eventually became the storefront shops we know today, with families living above their businesses.
Over the decades, Kensington Market's fresh grocers have gradually disappeared. As of 2026, only one remains. The Kensington Market Farmers' Market is bringing that tradition back by reconnecting the community with local growers and producers. Every week, you'll find fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables, artisanal foods, and products made with care by the people who grow and create them.
